Accessibility

Memorabley should work for everyone who makes or receives a gift: with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or reduced motion. This page says how far we have come.

Target and status

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. By our own review, the website and the gift pages largely meet it, but not completely; the exceptions are listed below.

We reviewed it ourselves: with automated tests (axe) on every change and in the browser with the keyboard. A review by an independent body is still to come.

What we do

  • Everything works with the keyboard, including sorting sections and moving through a voice message.
  • Headings, regions and form fields are marked up for screen readers. A “Skip to content” link leads past the navigation.
  • Text and controls have enough contrast, and the pages can be zoomed without losing content.
  • If you choose reduced motion in your device settings, you get calm transitions instead of animations.
  • Errors in forms are shown at the field and read out by screen readers.

What is not accessible yet

  • Videos and voice messages that people record or upload for a gift have no captions and no transcript.
  • Linked videos (YouTube, Vimeo) and the Spotify player come from those providers. How well they work is up to them.
  • Photos have no description of their own. A screen reader reads the caption if there is one, otherwise the photo’s position (for example “Photo 2 of 5”).
  • The map of places is an image. The places themselves are listed as text next to it.
  • On the Thai site, the legal texts and this statement are in English.
